Netting A Buck

26oct_8

When fall rolls around we usually end up seeing more bucks than does.  This particular one decided to taste a shrub that happened to have netting on it.  The netting was to deter deer from eating it for lunch.  The shrub is still there but the netting isn’t.  The netting ended up covering his antlers instead of the plant.  Can you see it?

In this picture you can see he was struggling with how to eat out of the deer feeder and still clear his antlers.  That didn’t happen.

Mr. Buck obviously wasn’t having a good day.  Next, the netting got caught in the branches of a tree. It took a bit of struggling to get clear of the deer.  When I reached for a branch to help, he seemed to have enough steam to pull himself loose.

Halloween events are fun.  The pumpkin carving contests come out and costume parties happen all over the place.   Kids sure enjoy this time of year.  We saw Power Rangers, Batman, turtles, hot air balloon riders, dancers, witches and goblins plus a dozen other characters.  It was really a fun event.

This character was prepared for everything.  In the holsters were two bottles of whiskey.  He carried shot glasses where other cowboys carry bullets.

We still haven’t heard a word from Verizon.  I don’t know of anyone that has.  Our phones are AT&T and our tethering plan currently allows us 10gb of data.  We liked the idea of having services from two sources.  Because of wimagehere we travel most, AT&T is the one we cannot do without.  Verizon is not available in the area we spend most of the summer.  Thus, we checked out a few options.  It seems that AT&T, Sprint and Verizon are offering a two for one sale --- kind of.  It’s like this.  Until October 31st you can sign up for 30gb of data and pay the price of 15gb of data.  Or, if you want a plan with 40gb of data, you only pay for the price of a plan with 20gb of data.  The sale goes away November 1st.   November 1st just happens to be the day that we’ll find out if our Millenicom internet is still working or not because that’s the day we normally saw the charge to our account from Millenicom.  We know we can’t wait until November to make that decision or we lose the sale.

Our previous two plans allowed us a combined total of 30gb of data.  If we upgrade to the 40gb option, we’ll have an additional 10gb of data and save about $60 from what we were paying.  It’s actually a no brainer.  I’m not so sure why we’re still dragging our feet though.

One more tidbit about one of my favorite subjects – DNA.  Ancestry.Com DNA will be changing soon.  It seems many of the present DNA matches may go away due to a change in how they have processed their DNA matching.   Some of their standards will be more in line with DNA processing from 23andme and FTDNA .. or so, the rumor goes.  You will still have to rely on their matching percentages because there currently are no plans to change to chromosome viewing.

‘Tis life on the road.

  2. We had our Millenicom/Verizon air card suspended when the announcement came. I finally called Verizon yesterday and they don't support that card. So it's either buy a new jet pack or just use my phone's hotspot. I'm not happy with either option but you can only do what you can do. I hope you wind up with something that suits you.

    1. Sounds like Verizon may not offer grandfather plans. It sounds a little like dirty pool. I'm not real pleased with options either.

  3. That buck isn't the smartest one in the group is he?
I want to supply my holster just like that guy did. Smart thinking.

  4. I'm with the Weavers. That's the way to wear a holster. I guess netting may not be the best thing in the world to stop the deer. At least certain deer.

  6. Holding my breath to see what happens with our Millenicom account. First I heard that Verizon won't support my MiFi device, it says "Verizon" on it.

    1. Make your decision in the next few days or you might miss out on the sale.

  7. Hope the buck got the netting off - all the other deer will laugh and call him names :-) We really wanted to switch from AT&T for the road, but this deal with Millenicom has us rethinking that action.

    1. I think it all depends where you spend most of your time. We need AT&T and would not switch to Verizon with phone service. However, that's why we had two separate services before. Unless we get something from Verizon in the next day or two we'll be upping our GB with AT&T.

  8. We are also dealing with Verizon. It's really too bad that their support staff is not as efficient as their product.

  9. That was one big deer you got those great pics of. I've never seen a buck in our neighbourhood even though we see plenty of Does.

That Verizon deal is pretty intriguing and if it saves you $60 a month it does seem hard to turn down.

    1. For us it would be a deal with AT&T unless Verizon grandfathers us in without a hassle.

  10. We debated Millenicom but with whats going on now I am glad we didn't. We just don't use that much data, but we did split the ticket to get the most consistent service as we travel
