Party Time in Quartzsite

jan22a-2Wednesday was Party Time but it wasn’t scheduled until 4:00 in the afternoon. We had plenty of time to accomplish other much needed tasks.  We started by taking our dirty clothes to the local Laundromat.  That place gets packed around here this time of year.  We wanted to go early.  By 8:30 in the morning we were on our way.  The crowds didn’t start coming in until we were just about finished and ready to leave.  Thank goodness for that …. no waiting around for an empty washer or dryer.

Then,  Terry and I decided to take a quick trip to Parker.  Well, it didn’t turn out to be a quick trip.  He had a prescription to pick up at the Wal-Mart there.  That took several hours.  To fill the time we did a little grocery shopping, stopped at the bank and even ran the Jeep with the kayaks on top through the wash.  About 4 hours later …. we made it back to Quartzsite just in time to rush aroundjan22a-1 for our next event of the day.

We had a spaghetti potluck planned.  The potluck was planned to honor the oldest person in our group who had been RVing just about forever and knew the most about everything there is to know.  Spaghetti is his favorite food or at least that's what he tells us.

IYQ aka “Lee” was our guest of honor.   We even had a few folks come up from Yuma who weren’t camping with us.  Toni and Doug (Palamine blog) showed up and so did Kay and Dan.

Next was a group picture.  Organizing a group like this is a big deal.  We are lucky though that we have a professional photographer in our group.  She’s done a few of these group pictures for us.  This time she had a little help.  Denise got into the act.  I bet you didn’t know that Denise (Sassys on da Road) could be such a card.  Well, she can.  Here she is trying to block the sun out of everyone’s eyes while they wait for it to go down behind the mountains.

The picture below shows how difficult  this group is to work with.   Carol certainly had a job getting us where we needed to be. and to stop acting up.  Eventually we cooperated.

2014 has definitely been a very busy and very active season at Quartzsite …. probably about the busiest for us ever and we're not done yet.

Next came time for the grand finale!

My blog was ready to go but I figured I'd post it on Friday.  However, once I got the final picture emailed to me I decided to make an adjustment to the blog and add the final product.  Here it is.  Aren't we a great group?  Thank you, Carol!

  3. We always knew Denise was a card, but how about that wild redhead in the photo background, climbing up on top the ATV ? was that before or after the wine was poured?

  4. I didn't know that Jan and Jerry were there. If you are still together, please tell them we said hi!

I bet Lee was shocked and thrilled at the recognition. The plague is really cool. Of course the crown does make the man. Great job by all.

Group photo is a keeper for sure. So glad y'all had a fabulous time and the weather was terrific!

  5. You're going to need to go somewhere quiet after all this fun and sleep for a week! :cO

But that is a really neat picture. Only one thing wrong with it, we're not in it. :c(

    Next year!
