Florida Bound

We finally cleaned out everything at the cabin and moved into town.   We had plans but they didn’t turn out quite as planned.   The problem is we didn’t exactly share the plans with our kids.    We thought we’d move the farthest distance 126away (40 miles) and end up in our daughter’s driveway to “mooch-dock” for 3 or 4 nights.  After that we figured we’d  shorten our southern trek by 15 miles and “mooch-dock” for  another 3 or 4 nights in our son’s driveway.  That was the plan but since we didn’t communicate it, it didn’t happen.  A cargo trailer was blocking our entrance to driveway number one.  I guess it would have helped if we had notified them we were coming before they went to work.  Naturally we didn’t.

The Kelso Elks has an RV park with hookups and that’s where we ended up for the first three nights.  We moved just in1211 time to get hit with a heavy rainstorm.   It was muddy and puddles were everywhere.  The heaviest rain was expected on Sunday.  We were all by ourselves until neighbors moved in next to us Saturday.  At 6 AM Sunday morning  our Canadian neighbor started running his diesel engine.   We thought they were leaving but they weren’t.  He ran his motor off and on for the next five hours!  We wondered if maybe he came in, didn’t pay so didn’t get the electric box key ….. that’s what we wondered but we decided not to hang around.  Besides, it’d be much better to be on a concrete drive than tracking all the mud in.  So, we moved, of course, right into our son’s driveway.  It was a southern move so I’m thinking we can now say we’ve started our trek south even though it was a very short distance.

Sitting in our little “roadhouse” has given us an opportunity to try a few things out and fix a few more things.   However, we won’t be here long as we still plan on attending a wedding in Florida this weekend.  We held our breath on 129that one with Hurricane Matthew hitting the coast but it looks like everything is still a go.

Tonight we’re hoping to snag a couple seats on a plane out of here.  Storms are now heading this direction so we’re hoping the storm doesn’t come early and doesn’t stay too long.  Not only do we need to leave but we also need to return on Sunday.

At least for a few days we’re hoping to see lots of sunshine in Florida.   Next week we’ll be singing “Las Vegas here we come.”   At least we hope we will be.

‘Tis life on the road.

  5. A little rough start to your southern trip. Are you leaving your trailer in your son's driveway while you are in FL? Have a great time at the wedding.

  6. Ah, mooch-docking, one of the finer things in RVing. Your little road house looks like a perfect fit in the driveway. Good choice! :c)

  8. I am sure you have found out by now, that while we do have sunshine, the humidity can make it less enjoyable:)
