Oceano – CRASH -- Monterey

26_07
We had traveled a short 20 miles from our previous stay at the Santa Maria Elks before arriving at our new destination.  This stop was at the Oceano Elks in the Pismo Beach area.  The park was only about a block or so from the ocean.  We’d been here before and knew the location was fabulous.  There are always fun places to eat and just after our arrival we found one of them.

Even Buck likes the beach

We visited the beach several times.  Sometimes we drove and other times we walked it.   On the weekends the beach was packed.  Riding ATVs,  camping and kiteboarding are pretty popular.  It’s an amazing place to watch the activity.

Another day we took a drive along the beach route.  The views were amazing.  We went from one beach up to another.  The crowds continued.  We also visited Avila Beach.  It was the busiest place of all and reminded me a little of Seaside with all the shops and people.

The Elks RV park pretty much cleared out Monday morning.  Weekenders went home and snowbirds moved in.  One such person with a “too long for him” 5th wheel pulled into the near empty park and cut his turn way too short.  His 5th wheel smacked the back of our “parked” truck and did some damage. He caught the back light, above the bumper and the canopy.  .  So, I can’t say this destination was uneventful at all.  It’s going to screw up our trip north and plans we had on arrival.  Of course, we’re still working with the insurance company.

Check this one out.  I caught Jerry washing dishes!  Yes!  Washing dishes.

It was time to go our separate ways.  On Wednesday the Hyders went a little south and we headed north towards Monterey.  We have stayed at Monterey several times.   We love the place.  Our RV park is in the middle of the Monterey Pines Golf Course.  The day we arrived it was National Golf Day and all golfing was free!

It didn’t take us long to set up the trailer and then head to Cannery Row.

We had an amazing lunch at Bubba Gump!

Excellent shrimp and fish!

Love Monterey!

It was time to really start thinking about the weekend and I needed to get packed.  I had plans to be on my way to Kerrville, Texas for a cousins’ reunion.  Our RV park was about a mile from the airport so we were conveniently located.    Even though the airport was close, the flight was early and that meant there would be little sleep.  I knew I’d probably wake up every hour to look at the clock in hopes I hadn’t over slept.

I thought I was caught up when I wrote this.  Now I realize I’m behind again but I still need to post it so I can start the next one.

‘Tis life on the road.

  2. Sounds like you two are really enjoying the good life. We never stopped at Monterey and probably will never be there. We ate at a Bubba Gump's in FL. Excellent food there too.

Jerry....dishes. Didn't know they could go in the same sentence....hehe

  4. Good luck with the insurance companies, hope they don't drag things out too long and slow you down. On the other hand, slowing you down might allow you enough time to smell the roses... :c)
