Life with our new dog!

Well, it’s been a week since I posted.  That’s about as long as I want to go without updating my blog which works as my personal diary.  As usual we’ve been pretty busy doing a lot of nothing.  The 4th of July long weekend has come and gone.  We’re glad that’s now behind us and all the locals have left the country and gone back to their jobs.  It gets pretty busy over the weekends around here.

Lake Sacajawea in the town of Longview, hosted a huge celebration.  Vendor tents lined the lake and about 15 food trucks showed up to feed the crowds.  When it was time to eat the salmon barbecue sign caught our eye. 

In addition the stage was set up for a  band each day of the weekend celebration.  It was a huge event.  Tammi invited me to join her and Michael checking it all out.  Of course, I didn’t refuse.  She also brought her little wagon.  We ended up filling it at the start with metal art.  Thus, we now have a new dog.

 This is a good dog.  We don’t need to pooper scoop, we don’t feed it and we don’t have to worry about leaving it behind if we decide to take a trip.

---- That’s not all my stuff and really we ended up going back and getting more.  After all, the deer won’t eat metal flowers.

We usually spend the evening of the 4th along the bank of the Columbia River.  In the past they’ve had amazing fireworks.  We’ve been able to sit and watch without it costing us a dime.  Then, when it’s time to leave, there’s very little traffic.  

The fireworks are purchased by local groups and there has been fabulous displays.  This year we were a little worried about the event because the local city council added a no alcohol law to the beach.  We figured that would keep some away.  Well, it did. 

The fireworks got a late start and we were worried it wouldn’t happen.  However, finally the display got in full force and it was beautiful.  I didn't take many pictures but I did take this one to show how light it stays during the summer around here.  This picture taken down the Columbia was at 10:17 PM.

We were surprised to see this American Cruise Line paddle boat anchored by the fireworks.  Evidently this is part of their itinerary and where they dock while taking passengers on a tour of Mt. St. Helens.  Well, this week they also got to enjoy the 4th of July celebration with the rest of us.

I’ve been addicted to embroidery this week.  I figure it’s cheap and keeps me off the street and out of trouble.  I’ve played with a few towels but also discovered it can be fun to embroider toilet tissue.  Now that’s really cheap to experiment on but I certainly wouldn’t recommend it be used for anything other than decoration.  It would be rough indeed.

We’ve had plenty of visitors from big ones to little ones.  The buck usually show up early morning but the doe and the little ones come off and on all day. 

The buck isn’t shy!  He’s also a pig when it comes to food!

I love watching the babies too.

Today is Thursday.  We’re heading north in a few hours.  Actually we’re spending about three days in the Bremerton and Seattle area.  We did the Underground Tour there over 40 years ago and it was so fantastic then that Terry has always been “itching” to share the adventure with the kids.  So, that’s where we’re going and that’s what we’re going to be doing.  Well, we’ll also visit Pike Place Market.  That’s a fantastic place to spend a little time.   Besides that one of my favorite places to eat sits above the ferry dock in Bremerton.  It’s Anthony’s and they usually have delicious ling cod on their menu.  We’ll see if we can work dinner in too.

     That about ends it for me so all I can say is “Oh Crap” .
