On the Hunt !

We had thought we were going to have our motorhome washed AND waxed on Thursday.  Well, that wasn’t exactly what they had planned.  They could wash it but would have to come back several days later to wax.  After having rainseveral appointments this week and having to wait an hour or so past the appointment time for the worker-bee to show up, we had a hard time agreeing to wait again.  Thus, we decided to do our own wax job.  That decision saved us about $100.   I wonder what they would charge if you had a dirty coach and just wanted the wax job?  Would they wash it for free?  Maybe … that’s what we should have “booked”.

We haven’t seen rain since we left the Pacific Northwest.  All we had to do was wash the RV and the rain clouds rolled in.  I’m thinking everyone in Southern California was probably happy we washed it because the result was a pretty good shower overnight.  Of course, we weren’t happy about it but they were.

cabazonFriday we decided to take a little ride.  It was about 30 miles west to the very famous Cabazon Outlets.  We’ve been to that outlet before.  It’s like no other outlet.  It has the normal stores you see in every other outlet but it also has outlets for the big names like Fendi, Armani, Gucci and Prada plus a zillion other high end shops.  They’ve even added on to it since we were there last time.  It’s huge.  I did walk away with a couple things but not from the stores I just mentioned.  Saks was having a pretty good mark-down but that was just about it.

We are on the hunt.  That’s for sure.  We’re hunting for a place to pull in and stay put for a month or two or maybe eventually twelve.  That’s not saying we won’t wander around Arizona for a bit because we will.  We’ve been scanning the internet for the perfect “little” park around Tempe, Mesa or Apache Junction.  We thought about Casa Grande but that’s a little farther from Terry’s mom.   I guess you could say we’re even on the prowl looking for a place that’s little, active and not run down.  Even though we really like this area, we’re kind of anxious to move on down the road.  Of course, we won’t be passing through Quartzsite without stopping for a night or two and probably a pizza from Silly Al’s.

I did say pizza at Silly Al's.  It seems we've not been lucky lately in eating out.  The other night we went to Red Robin.  We've NEVER had a bad visit to Red Robin until now.  It's not us when you get  your bottomless drink served about the time you finish your meal or when your hamburger is too raw to eat!  Oh well .... it forced me into trying my first Shepherd's Pie the next night (Toni, it was super good!).

‘Tis life on the road.

Politeness is an inexpensive way of making friends.

  2. Thats good to keep wandering, we will find it hard to do when the time comes.
Hope to make it to the Q this year too, family issues are stirring up so not sure whats happening yet.
Have never had a bad Pizza from silly Al's yet, hope it's still good.

  3. Oh no. Sorry to hear about family issues. That always makes it more difficult. Hope everything turns out okay for you. We still plan on wandering but we may do more wandering without an RV too so need a temporary place to park it now and then.

  4. As a native Californian, I thank you for your contribution to our dwindling water supply - please feel free to wash the coach every week while you're here! I hate most Outlets, but love Cabazon for the lay-out and the location, and the stores are pretty cool too. Check out Parker, AZ. Even ten years ago I would never have thought of it as a place to spend any time, but they have really turned that little Colorado River town around, and it seems to be very RV friendly.

    1. We actually like Parker and have stayed at the RV park in Earp across the Colorado several times. The problem is that Terry's Mom is about 150 miles away and no airport is handy for our little trips to somewhere.

  5. I don't think Casa Grande would be too far. I used to commute to Phoenix and Mesa everyday. There's a way short cut across the reservation. We can be to the airport in 40 minutes.

    1. We haven't really ruled out Casa Grande yet. However, it's about 40 miles to Terry's mom from there and only about 27 from Apache Junction. The traffic would probably be a lot less from CG though. We don't know. We'll be doing a lot of looking when we get in town.

  6. Your first Shepherd's Pie? It was a staple for us growing up and I still like it. Nice to see all that rain in Palm Springs - before we arrive!!

    1. Not first one we'd eaten but first one I'd fixed. I was raised on seafood, stews, pinto beans and cornbread -- southern style! We took care of making sure things got watered before you got here.

  7. Which Armani, Gucci or Prada bag did you buy? lol Or should I ask....Which one could you afford?

Looking forward to meeting up with the group at the Q and having some pizza at Silly Al’s.

    1. Last time I visited the stores. This time I didn't bother! Good thing I didn't even like what I saw before. It'll be nice to see you both again.

  8. You could have visited those high end stores and spent the money you saved from your self wax job and had no guilt... ;c)

Of course, you'd only be able to afford a pair of socks from those stores with that money!

  10. Missed you guys at Spotlight, we were in and out in no time at all. We came, we conquered, we took our winnings with us! On our way to our next destination, we thought we drove by the resort you guys are at but wasn't sure so we kept rolling...after all the wind was picking up. We are here at Caliente Springs for 6 days now and plan to take a bike ride to the Cabot's Pueblo Museum possibly tomorrow or Tuesday, otherwise we have no other plans...maybe we can get together and have lunch or something!
