The End of the Millenicom Dilemma

Most of us who had Millenicom as our wireless internet provider recently had to make a few decisions.  We had no clue what those options were until the envelope appeared on our device when we signed in and received a phone number to call.  Many folks were on top of it and called immediately.  Their wait was short --- under 30 minutes.  Others who didn’t notice the little envelope until they read about it (like me) discovered the online wait for a real person was very, very long.  Some were on hold for well over an hour and then disconnected.  At least we knew what our options finally were as folks who did get through posted them.  (Thank you!)

When we first signed up for Millenicom our rate was $59.99.  We were grandfathered in at that rate even when Millenicom started charging new customers $69.99 for the same 20GB of data.  This May all their customers had a rate hike to $89,99 but it was still the best deal out there so we hung on.

During the summer months we rarely use our Verizon hotspot because we're mostly in an area with better AT&T service or no Verizon service at all.  However, we continued to pay the bill just so we'd have both wireless providers the rest of the year.  Is that smart?  Absolutely not as we were really paying more than that $89,99 per month on an annual basis.  Occasionally we need Verizon when AT&T is not available but that happens less to us than the other way around.  It’s all about where you travel and what works for you.

The new deal offered by Verizon for no-contract service is $99.99 for 20GB of service plus tax so the final bill would be about $110 a month -- or, about $20 more per month than the previous amount Millenicom charged.  We had a better option with AT&T.  Our current data plan included 10GB of data.  For $42 a month we can increase that amount to 40GB of data.  Obviously, that’s a no brainer for us – more GB and less money.   I’m not so sure why I even stressed about it.  With this double deal going on over the next couple days from almost all the internet providers, why would we even think about offering to pay more for less?

I’m glad that dilemma is behind us.  Now on to the next one.

‘Tis life on the road.

Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better.

  1. Glad that you have fixed the problem for you. And still a very good deal.
Apparently we don't have that option of 20 gb yet as loyal Verizon customers, but think it migtl surface at some point in the future.

  2. My head is still spinning (more so than normal) over all this. And to think, just a few years ago we existed just fine with no Internet service. Oh for the good old days! ;c)

  3. Sounds like this just might work out for the better for you. Hope so. I'm still wondering if Verizon is going to cut Millenicom folks off completely before they can get their plans swapped and worked out. If they do, boy there is going to be some screaming outrage at Verizon.

  4. We don't even want to think about changing. We have six of us on our family plan what a mess that would be to change. Good luck with your new contract.

  5. Like George, I'm stuck with only 10 GB's as the maximum I can have. Like to have more, but can still manage with that amount.
