My previous blog was about RVing – Living a Dream. However, the RVing dream isn’t just a bowl full of roses. I’m guessing if that were the case, our electrical pedestal would not have been spewing smoke on Friday and our furnace would not have gone out on Saturday. Into each dream a little rain definitely falls.
Rain? That’s what we were praying for over Memorial Day weekend. Many times rain keeps all the people home. Well, maybe it doesn’t keep them home but it certainly keeps them out of places where we might be in our RV. Holiday weekends are so very different than what they used to be. We used to look forward to them. Now we dread them. Everyone and their brother was out over Memorial Day. We heard them, we saw them and we tried to avoid them. How’d that work? Not very well for sure.
Memorial Day weekend is a day we always make a special point to visit gravesites of those we loved and who are no longer with us. This year not only did Terry and I visit the gravesites but our two kids, Lee and Tammi, went with us. First the four of us went to breakfast together. Then, we bought flowers and flags and put them on each gravesite we visited.
This was pulled off of Justin's Facebook page. The picture was taken when his ship was in Mobile, Alabama and he was visiting the USS Alabama with a few other sailors. I think it is very fitting to post it here, today.
Remember those who served. All gave some. Some gave all.
For those who have served, thank you for your service!
Memorial Day this year is especially important as we are reminded almost daily of the great sacrifices that the men and women of the Armed Services make to defend our way of life.
I dread summer travel but week-ends are the worse and three day week-ends are even worse than that. Sorry about your furnace and the electric thing. That's not fun. Thank you to all of those who have served and are serving our country.

ReplyDeleteWe feel the same way too, but that just makes for some new neighbors for a couple days, then peace and quiet again.
